What Metal Plating Choices Are Available?

What Exactly Is Photo Etching ?

• If you recall the offset printed pin we discussed before, your designs image is transferred from a photographic negative onto the surface of the metal.  But instead of being printed on your design is etched into the brass using acid.

• Next all the acids and the shavings and any dross are carefully rinsed off.

• Your indentations are then filled with the enamel colors of your choice

• Each paint color is inserted using a syringe. The colors are applied one at a time,by hand  .

• Next we go to the furnace where your sheet of future pins will be heated for 12-15 minutes at 450°F

• Once they cool down they begin to cut your pins out of the sheet

• Any areas of the pin that will not be painted are then plated depending on the metal you choose to a shiny finish.

• Finally if you wish, we can add an epoxy protective coating to the finished product. Why do we do this? It will extend the life of the your colors by preventing them from fading or cracking down the road.
