What exactly does Die Struck Mean?
- A die is cut to the image of your design (This is similar to the soft enamel pin we talked about earlier) .
- Your image is then stamped on the sheet of metal . (This could be copper, iron, or brass.) What is the difference between these metals? Well, if you want a really sharp image then I would suggest the copper since it is softer then the iron. Yes, it will cost a bit more but we think you will be pleased with the results. (We can price it both ways for you if you like so you can make an informed decision.)
- Next your die cutting molds are created. (One for each part of the design)
- Once your molds are completed your design outline will be cut right into your new pin.
- Next you get to choose the final color metal of the plating for your pins. Will you choose gold (most popular)? Or perhaps silver or black nickel?
- The recessed areas of your pins design are sandblasted to give them a textured look.
- If you like, the raised areas are often given a high polished shine.
